Work is underway to create a new car park in Brough that will help to relieve parking congestion on roads close to the railway station.
The 52-space car park, which is located off Skillings Lane, close to the level crossing, is being developed as an overflow facility for the railway station and to reduce on-street parking in the area.
The work is being carried out by Hessle-based civil engineer company CR Reynolds Ltd and is expected to be completed in December.
Ian Hodges, director of the Horncastle Group PLC, welcomed the new car park.
He said: “Rail users catching a train from Brough often travel to the station by car and find the existing car parks are full, forcing them to park in local streets.
“Following discussions with East Riding of Yorkshire Council, it became apparent that the creation of an additional car park as part of Brough South may help to alleviate this problem and help rail users and local residents.”
Brough South is being developed by the Horncastle Group PLC on behalf of the Brough South Consortium which also includes Alma Jordan (Builders) Ltd, Riplingham Estates and BAE Systems.
