Housebuilders start final phase at Brough South

The popularity of Brough, Welton and Elloughton has seen house sales surge at Brough South over recent years and Barratt Homes and Bellway are now starting their final phases of development.

Both housebuilders have already delivered hundreds of new homes on the mixed use development and have now started work on their final plots of 225 houses by Barratt Homes and 167 by Bellway.

Ian Hodges, director of Brough South developer the Horncastle Group PLC, said the rate of housebuilding had exceeded expectations due the popularity of the location.

“With sweeping views across the Humber alongside amenities such as the new primary school and supermarket, Brough South is proving extremely popular with people moving to the area and existing residents wanting to move,” he said.

“This has accelerated the housebuilding activity to the point where the housebuilders are starting their final phases.”

However, there is good news for people still looking to secure a new home at Brough South in the future.

A series of planning applications have recently been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council to build a further 250 homes at Brough South, to meet ongoing demand.

If given the go ahead, the planning applications will also see the creation of public open space including woodland walks, a pump track, a new foot path linking Baffin Way to the Humber Bank, a significant extension to the Ecological Area, and employment land opportunities on the Humber Enterprise Park.

Mr Hodges added: “In recent years, we have worked closely with key stakeholders to optimise land use in the area and achieve a balanced and sustainable strategic outcome for the mutual benefit of everyone, including the local community. If these planning applications are approved and implemented, we believe this objective can be realised.”
